Cross Lutheran Church ELCA

Pastor's Welcome

Dear Friends,

It’s been a month since I have been invited into your faith community. My wife, Cathy, and I have felt warmly welcomed by you. We look forward to getting to know more of you and to know you better in the coming months.

Part of my responsibility as your interim pastor is to listen to your experiences and concerns here at Cross. I am interested in your faith journeys and your stories. With Pastor Elizabeth’s leaving and your deliberations regarding membership in the ELCA your plate has been full! I can assure you that over the course of my forty years of ministry I have heard many reports of folks who have been challenged by changes in their congregation. You can expect a respectful, non-judgmental, and caring listener when you talk to me.

In order to provide a framework for such conversations, I will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. Generally, I am in the office in the morning, but I am happy to make exceptions if that doesn’t work for you. I would be glad to meet you here at the office, at your home, or even a local coffee shop. You may schedule a time with me by calling or leaving a message at the church office. Please do!

In May we will continue our celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus from the dead. Easter is such a large celebration that it lasts seven weeks. So, I invite you to attend worship on these Sundays in May to experience the breadth and depth of our Easter faith.

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor James Stein
